My Favorite Scarf {For All Year Wear}

IMG_6159Scarves are easily one of my favorite things to wear. Whether its for their intended purpose of keeping warm or for the cuteness factor it can add to any outfit (definitely guilty of the latter more often) I love wearing one day or night.

I have dozens of scarves and I am definitely guilty of having my “Spring Scarves,”my “Fall Scarves,” etc. So when I was getting ready today I thought that a scarf would be the perfect thing to add since it’s still chilly here in the mornings when I head to work and opted to grab this one that I normally would not consider on this springy day.

The one that I am wearing here is one that I definitely put into the “Fall” camp of scarves so I paired it with the flatforms I posted about the other day since they’re a nice neutral to bring out the neutrals here.

My parents got this one from Louis Vuitton as a gift last year and you can find it here. It comes in a bunch of different colors too; I like the classic brown that I’m wearing but I also love the white & charcoal grey ones too!

Happy Friyay!

Platform Espadrilles

IMG_6099

Crappy quality photo but I wanted to show how they can elongate your legs! (FYI I’m just under 5’4″ so I can use all the height I can get!)

Remember when I said that I was obsessed with espadrilles this season? They’re perfect for Spring & Summer and just remind me of vacation. So even though I am sadly not on vacation right now, these new shoes are making me happy.

I posted a few weeks back about how I found some flat espadrilles that I loved (post here, Lace Up Espadrilles) and hinted that I ordered some platform ones! Well they have arrived and I am finally wearing them for the first time today and let me tell ya, they are as comfy as they look.

Since it is a platform, there’s no sharp arching of your foot which makes them feel like you’re wearing flats (hallelujah!) I got mine from Nordstrom but sadly they are all sold out there currently. BUT you can find some directly from Sole Society here. They’re called the ‘Audriana’ flatform espadrille and they also come in taupe & black; I opted for the cognac you see here because I thought they would go great with a tan.

Possibly the highlight of these shoes is that they’re only $74.95! But they do run a little small so I would recommend ordering a half size up; I’m usually a 7 but am wearing a 7.5 here.

The Cutest Cinco de Mayo Top

IMG_6060.JPGI am unabashedly obsessed with Cinco de Mayo. And while I am not of Mexican decent, I love first of all any excuse to celebrate and second of all any excuse to eat tacos and binge on margaritas (don’t we all?)

There’s nothing happier than a bowl of hot, spicy queso and thankfully I got to celebrate this year with my sweet friend, Paige. Since Cinco de Mayo fell on a Thursday and I have to pretend I’m a grown up, I cannot get tanked on a Thursday and be productive the next day; we played it low key by going to the Mexican restaurant that’s a short walk from my house where they had all the delicacies our hearts desired AND had a super fun traditional Mexican band.

Since I love a theme, I had to cultivate my Cinco outfit like a pro and thankfully t + j Designs has a bunch of cute graphic tees and even one perfect for Cinco de Mayo! You can shop all of their graphic tees here.

I paired mine with my white skinny jeans (from JCrew here) and some colorful ballet flats (Tory Burch, similar

Until next year, my fellow Cinco lovers!

ps–I also have their Pop the Champagne tee because Champagne is my truest love. I even got my mom one for Mother’s Day because she liked it so much!

Best Vanilla Cupcake Recipe {Noms}

IMG_6024.jpg

All you need to decorate like this is a piping bag and your desired tip

IMG_6023.JPG

Last night my mom and I hosted a Stella & Dot Party at my house! My mom went to one last year and had so much fun with her friends, having drinks and shopping all of the cute jewelry & accessories so we thought it would be fun to have one ourselves.

We made some appetizers, lots of wine and I tried out a new recipe for vanilla cupcakes & frosting that were so good that I have to share. I found this on Pinterest, where I find most of my recipes, by Deliciously Sprinkled. Her recipe makes 12 cupcakes but I wanted more than that, so I doubled what I found and made the recipe below.

Here’s what you’ll need:

VANILLA CUPCAKES:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sour cream

VANILLA BUTTERCREAM FROSTING:

  • (4 sticks) cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 5 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 2 Tablespoon heavy whipping cream
  • Sprinkles
  • Food coloring (optional)

DIRECTIONS

CUPCAKES

STEP 1: Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Line muffin tin(s) with cupcake liners.

STEP 2: In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

STEP 3: In a large bowl, using an electric or stand mixer (I use my Kitchen Aid) on medium speed to beat eggs and sugar for about 2 minutes, or until light and creamy. Next add the butter and vanilla extract and beat on low speed for about 1 minute, or until well blended. Beat in the dry ingredients on low speed until blended. DO NOT OVER MIX! Add the sour cream and beat until smooth.*I thought the sour cream would be weird but it made them so moist and delicious!

STEP 4: Fill each cupcake liner about 3/4 the way full with cupcake batter. Bake 18 to 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

*Don’t forget to let the cupcakes cool before you frost them, otherwise the frosting will slide right off.

FROSTING

STEP 1: Mix softened butter on medium speed with an electric or stand mixer. Beat for 30 seconds until smooth and creamy.

STEP 2: Slowly add powdered sugar, heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract. Start on low speed but increase to high speed and beat for 3 minutes.

STEP 3: (Optional) Add food coloring and mix until desired color.

STEP 4: Load frosting into a piping bag with your desired tip. Fill it about half-way (so you don’t squeeze some out of the top by mistake) and start your desired pattern. All I did was use the flower tip and do small dollops around the outside and then worked my way inward until they were covered. Then I sprinkled on some blue crystals and that was all!

Fringe Block-Heel {M.Gemi}

IMG_6014.jpgIMG_6011.jpgIMG_6012.jpg

It has been well documented on here about my love of tassels but I would like to introduce you to tassels’ older sister, FRINGE!

Last spring I fell in love with everything fringe and found lots of great tops, accessories and shoes with fun fringe detailing. After everything that I found, these stacked heeled sandals are still my favorite.

They are by M.Gemi which is an Italian brand that makes the most beautiful shoes! Not only are they nice to look at, but they really do hold up well. I wore these through spring, summer and a bit into fall every opportunity I could find and they are still as comfortable and pretty as when I first got them.

These exact ones are no longer available (so sad!) but they have TONS of other great shoes for spring and summer 2016 from espadrilles to lace up pumps and flats.

Some that I am currently lusting over are The BrezzaThe Marea, & their classic The Pastoso (which comes in the most fun colors!)

These shoes are a bit pricey but I swear they are worth the investment. Not too mention, when I received my order they came packaged up so beautifully with a personalized card, storage bag and box. Such a treat!

They run true to size in my opinion, and don’t forget to convert to your European Size! Find a guide if you’re not sure of your size, like this one.

My Room {Bed}

Queen Tiff loves to get right in between and on top all the pillows

While my love for my guest room has been made clear (it inspired this whole blog!) I obviously have much love for my own bedroom. As you can see here, I have a black & white thing going on with pops of gold and pink. My walls are even painted black & white which I was SUPER anxious about doing, but I thought that with the high ceilings I could pull it off and luckily enough it turned out great! Even the painter was surprised haha

Since sleep is super important for our health and I love sleeping, the bed is the most important thing in my bedroom so I thought I’d share that here.

I have a king size bed because my bedroom is huge so it can definitely fit it and plus I think there is something so luxurious about sleeping in a large, comfy, fluffy bed! I’m sure my pups also appreciate the extra space because they get to really sprawl out and take full advantage of the extra real estate the king bed has to offer.

I went with some classic bedding because I knew that I wanted to bring in gold with some accent pieces and I also have pops of pink throughout the room. I’m still looking for the perfect piece of artwork to hang above my bed (with lots of pink!) but I haven’t found anything yet. Decorating is process for sure!

Here are links to just about everything that goes into making my bed super comfy and cute (minus the pups, sorry they’re mine ;))

My bed frame is from CB2 but they no longer have it online (it was one of the first things I bought when I moved in) but you can see their other options here.

The Tassel Obsession Continues…

IMG_5955IMG_5953

Soooo I bought some more tassel jewelry. Oops! But not really when these earrings are only $32! They are from the BaubleBar line of jewelry at Nordstrom. I love ALL of the tassel items in this line and have come close to buying almost all of it after a few glasses of wine…

These also come in a fun hot pink but for whatever reason, I am totally obsessed with all things blue right now so the turquoise ones it is!

I love how even though they are statement earrings, the anchor on the ear looks like a stud which covers up the stretching that heavy earrings will usually put on my earlobes.

I also got a really cute long tassel necklace during my trip to Chicago over last weekend (also from Nordstrom and also blue…really obsessed) but it is not online to link here. Sad!

But don’t worry, here are a few other tassel pieces I saw:

This fun, long Kendra Scott necklace

This Cara Couture little girls’ bracelet set (only $15!)

These Trina Turk Earrings (both colors would look so good with a tan!)
